(An oddity is that while 'P' has disappeared from Win Explorer, Q' is alive and well.. I have the same problem I had a working USB Drive, the Windows Update hit 3/24/14 and the drive was not recognized by Windows after that.. The drive letters jump from 'O' (an 8 GB USB compact flash drive) to 'Q' (a 1000 GB drive for backups of 'P') I rebooted with no result; 'P' is still MIA.. I checked my desktop shortcut to that drive and got the same error msg I went to Windows Explorer and discovered that while drive 'C' (named 'Primary') is OK, the secondary ('P', where all my real work is stored) has disappeared. 1

But then I tried one of my desktop shortcuts to work on a document, and got an error message to the effect that the drive ID ('P') is no longer valid.. This AM, I checked for Windows Updates The display listed an optional one: 'Cypress - Other hardware - Cypress AT2 USB Storage Adapter' I installed it, apparently successfully. http://tetsujiisa.tistory.com/21
